Organizational Overview:

Founded in 1969, the National Council for Mental Wellbeing (National Council) is a membership organization that drives policy and social change on behalf of nearly 3,500 mental health and substance use treatment organizations and the more than 10 million children, adults and families they serve. The National Council is a 501(c)(3) association that advocates for policies that ensure people who have mental health and substance use challenges have access to comprehensive, high quality services. We also offer state-of-the-science education and practice improvement consulting and resources to ensure services are efficient and effective.

Position Summary:
The Intern, Business & Strategy, will work directly with the Manager, Business & Strategy to conduct research, create written products, and contribute to departmental initiatives in support of the National Council’s growth priorities. External relationship management with funders and business contacts; proposal submissions; special programmatic projects all fall within the purview of the Business & Strategy Department and as such, the intern will complete tasks across these activities, as needed. We seek an individual with passion for the work of the National Council and an interest to learn about the core functions of this department.

Position Summary:
The Intern, Practice Improvement & Consulting, will work directly with a practice area leader to conduct research, create written products, and contribute to departmental projects focused on improving clinical, financial, and operational practices within community behavioral health and other points of care. Examples of past intern projects and responsibilities include: literature reviews on evidence-based practices in behavioral health such as Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT); project summaries for our website and proposals for additional work; and survey reports which articulate practice challenges for policymakers and other external audiences.
