EveryMind strengthens communities and empowers individuals to reach optimal mental wellness. EveryMind works with vulnerable and underserved populations to improve mental wellness through counseling and case management, peer navigation to veterans, support to at-risk students and their families, crisis prevention and intervention and community education.

A trusted mental health resource in the National Capital Region since 1957, EveryMind offers programs and services that bring healing, hope and wholeness to children, youth, adults, veterans and families. From school-based mental health services, our life-saving crisis prevention and intervention work, and community education and advocacy, EveryMind positively impacts hundreds of area residents every week.

Crisis Prevention and Intervention Volunteers serve as emotional support/crisis intervention specialists for a 24/7 confidential hotline as well as text and online chat services. The Hotline is staffed primarily by volunteers who provide confidential and supportive listening; crisis prevention and intervention; and information, referrals, and resources. Volunteering for this position has many great benefits including having a positive impact on the wellbeing of our community's most vulnerable individuals, developing your supportive listening skills, building your resume, and helping save someone's life. Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Attending training is required prior to beginning your service.

EveryMind Hotline Training Certification requires weekly 3 hours zoom meeting and 7-12 hours (weekly) of Homework, Observation, and Role Play. In order to pass training, all classroom sessions must be attended and tests passed. Training is typically offered quarterly. After completion of training, volunteers/ employee must complete 3 months (or 12 shift minimum) probationary post-training, after which you will receive a certificate of course completion.
