Personal Support Counselor Position
**This position is funded by the state of Maryland’s
Developmental
Disability Administration (DDA) through the Self-Directed Waiver
Program. This position provides direct care and support services
to an adult client who has a Disability.**
Hours: Flexible/ Part Time
CPR/First Aid Reimbursement
Offered Salary: $20-$25 an hour Paycheck Direct Deposit Available
Jobs Description:
● Helps in planning day trips and driving long distances (Hershey Park, Kings Dominion, Six Flags, Ocean City, Utz Factory, Sandy Point Beach).
● Helps in planning volunteer events within the community (Food Drive, Toys for Tots, Clothes Drive, Soup Kitchen, Meals On Wheels ).
● Assists in planning activities within the community (pool parties, tie dying shirts, bowling, movies, dining out, ice skating, skiing, jet skiing, horseback riding ect.
● Helps individuals in achieving personal support goals as stated in their annual person-centered plan.
● Provides help in particular areas ( budgeting, healthy cooking, menu planning, using the gym, going to doctors appointments, doing errands).
● Submits weekly notes by email to the team
● Must Attend all group staff meetings.
● Submits every 2 weeks or one a month the mileage reimbursement form.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Some college courses preferred, but not required in (Health and Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Criminology, Special Education, and Counseling).
● Some experience, but not required, working with an individual with developmental disabilities.
● Must be a fun and energetic person.
● Must have a vehicle,with a valid US Driver’s License, and a good driving record.
● Must be CPR and First Aid Certified.
● Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check.
