Interested in gaining hands-on research experience in the social sciences? Have an interest in working with low income families and young children?

The Family Involvement Laboratory IS LOOKING FOR ENGLISH AND SPANISH SPEAKING UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANTS for the SPRING semester (2019). Students MUST be available Tuesday's 2-3pm for a weekly meeting.

Students will serve as research assistants for the Family Involvement Lab project Baby Books 2, which is an intervention for low income mothers, fathers, & young children. The goal of the study is to understand the reading practices of these mothers’ & fathers.

Research assistants will participate in data collection; recruit parents; schedule visits; code and transcribe videos; & enter data. Effective communication skills and a passion for working with families with young children is required. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing graduate work in the social sciences. Depending on interest & skill-level, there will be opportunities to write honors theses and participate in papers for publication.

Interested students should send their unofficial transcript and resume to Diletta Mittone at dmittone@umd.edu. For additional information on our lab, see our website HERE
