Post-Bac opportunity with Kurtz Psychology in NYC!

Full-time position: Administrative Coordinator of Special Projects: This is a full-time position at Kurtz Psychology Consulting PC - a state-of-the-science group clinical psychology practice in the heart of NYC that specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescent with a variety of presenting problems, including but not limited to selective mutism, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The position reports directly to the President and founding psychologist, Dr. Steven Kurtz, and to the Director of Selective Mutism Programs, Dr. Shelley Avny.

Scope of Responsibilities: The Special Projects Coordinator oversees the administration of our flagship programs in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and Selective Mutism – Mighty Mouth Kids and WeSpeak – in both our clinical and research endeavors. The clinical team includes full time psychologists, Postdoctoral Fellows, as well as graduate practicum externs and undergraduate volunteers. The Coordinator assists Drs. Kurtz and Avny in their volunteer duties with several national level organizations – PCIT International, Selective Mutism Association, American Board of Professional Psychology, ABCT and ADAA. The Coordinator also facilitates our widely acclaimed Lunch ‘n’ Learn webinar series – a continuing education experience attended by colleagues world-wide. This position has a high degree of contact with our clinical families, for which the Coordinator receives extensive training and ongoing supervision.

Pre-professional position: The Coordinator position is ideally suited to a post-baccalaureate person looking to accumulate real-world clinical and research experiences in preparation for later applying to graduate programs in psychology. Other persons who have previously held this or similar positions with us have earned co-authorship on posters and papers at national conferences. The position includes full reimbursement for travel to 1-2 national psychology conferences per year. Many are currently enrolled in graduate psychology programs or have advanced to licensed psychology positions around the country. Salary is commensurate with experience and we provide a full benefits package including health insurance, paid sick leave, personal days, educational leave and vacation.
