Part-time Research Associate
Shorter-Gooden Consulting
July-December 2018
8-12 hours per week

Description:
Shorter-Gooden Consulting is a diversity consulting and training firm, based in Washington, DC and led by Kumea Shorter-Gooden, Ph.D., who is a clinical/community psychologist, former professor, and a former two-time Chief Diversity Officer (at Alliant International University and the University of Maryland, College Park). Shorter-Gooden Consulting has recently been awarded a contract to develop a diversity and inclusion framework for a major, national professional association.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature searches, gather data online, retrieve articles and
· Contribute to draft and design of development and inclusion framework
· Assist with design and format of stakeholder survey; interface with stakeholders to collect data; oversee, compile and summarize survey results
· Develop inventory of diversity and inclusion activities based on survey results
· Organize and maintain electronic project materials
· Provide general administrative support for the project 
reports, review source materials, and write syntheses and summaries – related to diversity and inclusion issues and best practices

Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social Sciences, Ethnic Studies or related field
· Knowledge about equity, diversity and inclusion and about diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives
· Skills in online research and data gathering
· Excellent writing skills
· Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail
· Ability to work independently
· Passion about and commitment to social justice
Preferred:
· Master’s degree, preferably in Education, Social Sciences, Ethnic Studies or related field
· Experience with survey development and analysis and with online survey tools, like Survey Monkey
· Experience in graphic design and development of infographics
· Experience in data presentation using tables and charts
· Experience in designing/developing/maintaining a website using open source software
