Research is one of the main activities that psychologists are involved in. The first step in conducting any type of research is to collect the data. There are several platforms that allow researchers to present tasks to participants and to collect data according to the needs of a study.

E-Prime is a widely used software in social sciences, it can be used by the novices and experts alike. The objective of the course is to get the students familiarized with the basics of E-Prime, at the same time as important programming concepts are introduced. At the end of the course students will be able to program an experiment from scratch, and will count with several programming skills that can be translated to any other programming language.

Several skills will be gained:
  • How to use basic programming, iterations, conditional statements, arrays and structures
  • How to define a task at every level of it, this is important for anyone regardless of how involved this person is in psychological research.
  • How to approach the debugging process, meaning how you realize and approach the fact that something is wrong with your program.
  • It will be a 80% hands on experience, which means students will learn by programming.
