A friendly note and some helpful guidance from the new Psychology Department Librarian Jordan Sly!

Hello and welcome back to campus!

My name is Jordan Sly and I am the new librarian for the Psychology department. I am here to help you with all of your work here at UMD and I’d like to just quickly mention a couple of the things the library and I have to offer as the semester gets rolling. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and to learn more about additional services we can offer.

New Research Guide: Please visit the fully updated research guide: http://lib.guides.umd.edu/Psychology . In this guide you will find a number of helpful resources for your coursework, exams, and research. This guide contains both fundamental resources covering publication type and guides for searching and retrieving library materials (articles, books, etc.) as well as more in depth and helpful resources for finding and analyzing data including links to useful data sets, analysis software, and statistics resources.

Research Consultations: I am available for individual research help if you need some advice, assistance, support, etc. Even for experienced researchers, it can be difficult to navigate all of the various databases (http://www.lib.umd.edu/dbfinder/list/facet/Category/Psychology) and catalogs (https://umaryland.on.worldcat.org/advancedsearch and http://uborrow.relaisd2d.com/index.html )  to find resources. I’m more than happy to sit down with you and work through some of these issues: http://lib.guides.umd.edu/c.php?g=327087&p=3779096

Grad Student/Researcher Resources: Additionally, we have a whole host of resources available to grad student researchers through our main library page: http://www.lib.umd.edu/rc . In this page you will find a number of useful campus and library resources that can help you as you progress through your program. Please do pay special attention to our data analysis and statistical help pages.
