Lindsey has a near-perfect G.P.A. and will receive her Bachelor of Science in May, 2015, with a minor in Spanish Language and Culture. Lindsey studied abroad in Seville, Spain during the Spring 2014 semester. She has amassed an impressive amount of teaching experiences at such a young age. Lindsey has worked for several summers as a Teaching Fellow with Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia, an organization which focuses on improving teaching in urban environments. Lindsey even created a psychology club for the students at the middle school! Lindsey also tutors and mentors students in Washington, D.C., and has served as a tutor for student athletes at University of Maryland. This past year, Lindsey was awarded membership in the Philip Merrill Presidential Scholars program, which honors Maryland’s most successful seniors. Outside of classes in her final semester, Lindsey currently works as a Junior Associate in the Division of Bilingual Education with the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS).
On her Fulbright appointment in Spain next year, Lindsey tells us that her central responsibility will be to lead and prepare the students for the Global Classrooms: Model United Nations Program. This is an innovative, international program that provides middle and high school students the opportunity to step into the shoes of U.N. ambassadors and attempt to tackle complex global problems through simulations, discussions, debates, and other activities. In addition to leading her particular school in the Model U.N. program, she will also be responsible for assisting the permanent teaching staff with different classes throughout the school day. She will help with English Language courses as well as with various other subject matters, including History, Geography, Science, and Physical Education.
