Research Assistant Positions
The Affective and Translational Neuroscience Lab
Dr. Alexander Shackman

Description:
The Affective and Translational Neuroscience Lab, under the direction of Dr. Alexander Shackman, is currently seeking highly motivated and extremely dependable undergraduate research assistants. Most of our research uses brain imaging techniques, such as fMRI, and is geared toward identifying mechanisms that link high levels of anxiety to the development of psychopathology, including the identification of novel brain-based biomarkers and endophenotypes. Anxiety, depressive, and co-morbid substance abuse disorders are extremely common, debilitating, and often resistant to existing therapeutics -- underscoring the importance of elucidating the brain mechanisms underlying risk and resilience, and developing better interventions.
