Description:
A research coordinator (lab manager) is being sought for the labs of Dr. Pearl Chiu, Dr. Brooks King-Casas, and Dr. Stephen LaConte at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute
(http://research.vtc.vt.edu). Drs. Chiu, King-Casas, and LaConte's work centers on functional
neuroimaging of healthy and clinical populations (e.g., mood/anxiety, substance, at-risk youth) with an emphasis on social neuroscience and reward-guided decision-making. The research coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, screening, consenting, assessing, and generally maintaining good
communication with research participants and collaborators. Additional duties include organizing
project funds and preparing and tracking IRB protocols. The research coordinator is an essential
member of the laboratory and will be generally responsible for having overall knowledge of all lab
projects and managing day-to-day logistics of ongoing lab projects. The coordinator will be
responsible for data collection from various modalities including: behavior, fMRI, fNIRS, EEG, genetic samples.

Training will be provided for all aspects of the position. This is an excellent opportunity for
candidates interested in graduate school in cognitive neuroscience and related fields. Preference will
be given to candidates who are willing to make a two-year commitment.

Requirements/Qualifications: 
Minimum requirements for the position include: 1) BA/BS in psychology, biology, engineering, or
related field; 2) two years of research experience; 3) demonstrated organizational skills or experience
with data management; 4) desire to succeed in a fast-paced research environment with multiple
duties; 5) Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent written and oral
communication skills; 6) Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent.
