Spring research based internships with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences!

The Laboratory for the Treatment of Suicide-Related Ideation and Behavior at the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland is currently offering a number of non-paid internships.

Interns are asked to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per week for 3 months (or longer) to assist with the following:

(1) Transcription of cognitive behavior therapy psychotherapy sessions

(2) Transcription of interviews with military behavioral health providers, chaplains, and leadership on the management of suicide-related events during deployment

(3) Other research activities associated with a number of suicide prevention studies

Interns will gain exposure to military suicide prevention studies, psychotherapy research, and randomized clinical trials methodology. Course credit for the internship may be setup in collaboration with the intern and his/her academic institution. An unpaid internship of this type can serve as professional experience in the fields of military mental health, psychology, and suicide prevention – and will strengthen a candidate’s application to graduate programs in psychology or related fields.
