Maryland Child and Family Development Lab

Description:

The Maryland Child and Family Development Lab is looking for excellent, dedicated RAs! Students can earn course credit, or just volunteer to acquire valuable research experience working with children and families! The lab is currently running two studies.

This intervention is aimed at promoting secure attachment in preschool children attending Head Start. Questionnaires will be collected from parents and interactions between parents and their preschool children will be recorded. In addition, the study will administer tasks to assess children's helping, sharing, and comforting behaviors.

The second study, Joint Attention to Emotional Stimuli, focuses on showing mothers and three year olds emotional video clips and recording their behavior. This study will also conduct participant assessments and allow RAs the opportunity to learn about research design and implementation as well as coding behavior from recorded interactions. Priority will be given to students with flexible schedules, including availability on evenings and weekends.
