Fall Intern Position

Founded in September of 2011, the Food Recovery Network (FRN) is the first national student-led food recovery movement working to bring food recovery programs to every college in the country. Made up of 23 colleges and universities, FRN has already recovered over 165,000 pounds of food and is rapidly expanding.

Description:
FRN is looking for a fall intern who will work as part of the team leading the national organization. This intern will be responsible for working with the Executive Director, Program Director, Director of Expansion, Director of Member Support, as well as other members of the National Team to enhance FRN’s programming and overall function.

This internship will offer many opportunities for professional development, and there may be the opportunity for the internship to turn into a full time position in the future.

Commitment: 
The position will be approximately 20 hours of work per week from September 16 – December 13, located on the UMD campus in the start-up shell within the Technology Advancement Building.

Compensation: 
This position pays a $1,125 stipend for the entirety of the internship. A student with at least 60 credits of completed coursework may receive academic credit.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Director of Expansion and other interns to start new FRN chapters
- Represent FRN in meetings with key national partners like EPA, and food service providers
- Provide general programmatic and research aid to the Program Director

Required:
- Experience with MS Office Suite
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience with service projects and demonstrated student leadership
- Organized and able to deliver in a dynamic, fun, and results-oriented environment
- Able to work some of the required hours at night remotely.

Preferred:
- Experience with web design, HTML coding
- Experience working for a national student organization
- Experience working in a nonprofit and start up, student or otherwise
- Experience working with food justice issues
- Demonstrated ability to rally and support others to join a cause or organization
