Hourly Research Assistant Openings
The Center for Addictions Personality and Emotion Research (CAPER) in the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland College Park has TWO openings for hourly research assistants. These positions are in support of a NIDA-funded, randomized controlled clinical trial employing combined behavioral and pharmacotherapy-based interventions for smoking cessation among adults. Research Assistants work between 15-35 hours weekly and participate in multiple aspects of the study including assisting with participant recruitment and retention, administering research and clinical assessments, data management, and administrative tasks.
CAPER is also seeking an hourly research assistant for an American Cancer Society (ACS) funded clinical trial for smoking cessation among adults in residential treatment for substance use. Research Assistants work between 15-35 hours weekly and participate in multiple aspects of the study including assisting with participant recruitment and retention, administering research and clinical assessments, data management, and administrative tasks. Access to a vehicle is required for this position.

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, or in a related field; be proficient in Microsoft Office and SPSS software; and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to candidates with experience administering the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (SCID) or other diagnostic instruments and in working with a diverse community population. Some weekday evening availability is requested.
