Research Assistants for Maryland Psychotherapy Clinic and Research Laboratory

Undergraduate research assistant opportunities are available for Fall 2011 in the Maryland Psychotherapy Clinic and Research Laboratory (MPCRL). The MPCRL provides high-quality counseling and psychotherapy to adults in the Prince George's County, Montgomery County, and the Washington, D.C. area. Treatment focuses on insight and understanding difficulties in relationship problems, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and meaning of life. To learn more about MPCRL, go to our web site at www.mpcrl.umd.edu

Research assistants will help with the administrative tasks required to keep the clinic running, including interacting with clients and therapists. They will also get involved in the clinic’s research, which studies the effectiveness of psychotherapy. Research assistants will view, code, and occasionally transcribe therapy sessions.

Applicants should have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher, and be prepared to work 9 hours per week for 3 hours of course credit (PSYC 479). Research assistants will write a short paper at the end of the semester describing their experiences in the lab.  Please email a brief statement of interest, your GPA, and a resume/curriculum vitae to Kristen Pinto-Coelho at
mpcrl@umd.edu, with the subject “Interested in RA Position [Insert Your Last Name].”
