Operation/Marketing Internship

Need organized and creative sophomore or Junior to manage operations and web marketing for local small business. Ideal candidate will lead project to create and manage warehousing and inventory system for growing home staging company. Company is in the process of acquiring furniture and decorative items for use in vacant homes for sale in the Metro DC area. Company services between 4-6 homes per month, with various levels of furniture and accessories used in vacant homes. Company is looking to grow the number of homes being serviced over the summer months. Candidate must be able to follow directions from realtors and homeowners (clients) and CEO (management) while creatively and calmly solving issues or problems should they arise. Candidate MAY become involved with physical styling homes for photo shoots and open houses, as the need arises. Candidate must also be able to edit and manage portfolio of projects on company website and write blog posts as well.

Please note – this is NOT an office job. Candidate must feel comfortable and thrive in fast-paced, busy working environment and able to work with various groups of people –including homeowners, Realtors, investors, delivery/service people and vendors. Candidate should NOT be afraid to “get his/her hands dirty” to get the job done.


REQUIREMENTS: Intern candidate MUST:
• Be able to lift 30 pounds on his/her own
• Must have solid organizational knowledge including planning, and tracking system flow, and physical organization skills like sorting, packing and unpacking.
• Be able to multi-task and problem solve on the spot
• Be familiar with social media basics – blog, Twitter, Facebook pages and web sites
• Have solid written and oral communications skills, to represent the company in positive way
• Be familiar with Microsoft office suite of products.
• Have completed at least their sophomore year of college, with 2.8 cum GPA or higher.

LOCATION – Company is located in downtown Silver Spring. Candidate will be provided with clean and free parking during working hours and is located within 3 blocks of Metro station.

HIRING PROCESS - Candidates of interest will be scheduled for phone interview by Thursday, June 9, 2011.
