Research Assistant Positions with The Shackman Lab

The Affective & Translational Neuroscience Lab (ATNL), directed by Dr. Alex Shackman, is looking for highly motivated, energetic, and creative undergraduate research assistants. 

The overarching mission of the lab is to have a deep impact on the fields of affective and clinical/translational neuroscience. To that end, on-going projects are aimed at understanding the neurobiology of fear and anxiety and its role in the development and maintenance of adult anxiety disorders, depression, and substance abuse. This position will provide opportunities to gain experience with participant recruitment and data collection via neuroimaging (fMRI) for several on-going research projects. This is an exciting opportunity to establish a competitive research record in preparation for Graduate School and/or gain valuable work experience applicable to various careers.

Responsibilities:
-Participant recruitment
-Assistance with fMRI data collection (using Presentation software)
-Work with fMRI viewing and editing software to create brain masks and images
-Miscellaneous laboratory administrative tasks
-Opportunities to contribute to poster presentations and/or manuscripts
-Maximum of 10 hours/week

Qualifications:
-Must be a major in Psychology, Neurobiology/Neuroscience, or a related field
-Highly motivated to pursue a Ph.D. or medical school
-Flexible availability on evenings and weekends
-Strong communication skills and professionalism
-Detail-oriented
