Description:
The Language Learning and Cognition Study is recruiting participants! Participate in 14 sessions of 1-2 hours each at the Patapsco building (a short walk from College Park Metro, accessible by Shuttle #104). You will be asked to complete cognitive tasks and questionnaires, as well as training tasks on an iPad. Receive $240 for completing the study ($5 each for sessions 1-13, and $175 at the final session). After completing session 14, you will get a raffle entry to win one of 10 $200 gift cards! Qualifications:
-18-30 years of age
-monolingual native English speaker
-currently enrolled in a 300 level Spanish course or completed a 300 level Spanish course within the past year

Description:
Primary responsibilities of this position include supervising children between the ages of 5 and 14, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, providing and supervising appropriate activities for the children, following State childcare regulations, and participating in all tasks which make Extended Day run smoothly.

Extended Day’s hours are 7:30-8:15 a.m. and 2:30-6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday (1:45-6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays). There are opportunities for additional hours during half-days and Extended Day camps during professional days and school breaks.

Requirements for this position include:
-must be able to work both independently and cooperatively as a member of the Extended Day team
-must pass criminal background investigation
-First Aid and CPR certifications (the school may allow these to be acquired after hiring)
-must be able to take initiative
-preferably available to work three (3) days/week

Safe Shores is the only Child Advocacy Center in the District of Columbia. The Center provides forensic evaluations, psychological assessment and counseling as needed to children affected by abuse, trauma, and violence in the DC region. Interns will help implement an evidence-based assessment battery to improve treatment planning and coordinating care. Volunteers will administer and score various assessment tools and track children’s progress over the course of therapy.

Responsibilities:

Research Internships with Total Child Health, Inc.!

Description:
Total Child Health is a for-profit company dedicated to helping primary care
pediatricians identify, assess, and treat developmental, behavioral, and socio-emotional
difficulties in children. This goal is accomplished through the use of an interactive, online
program called the Child Health and Development Interactive System (CHADIS). Total
Child Health is funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH), through
Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants.

Total Child Health is seeking students for the position described below. Such positions
may be paid, or arranged through an independent study program. Independent study is
contingent on approval from a faculty supervisor.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (ADHD) Study
The ADHD study is an NIMH-funded research project with the goal of improving the
evaluation and management of ADHD in primary care. The internship will involve
developing, testing, and validating online parent questionnaires designed to assess ADHD
and common comorbidities (e.g., anxiety, aggression). In order to validate parent
questionnaires, the intern will conduct structured diagnostic interviews with both parents
and children. Interns will also assist with participant recruitment, as well as with
facilitating communication between parents and clinicians. Finally, interns will assist
with organizing grant materials, coding and entering data, and validating questionnaires.
Previous research experience is required. Experience conducting psychiatric diagnostic
interviews (e.g., the DISC or DIPA), experience working with parents and children, and
fluency in Spanish are all desired, but not required. Interns will be required to travel to
both pediatric offices, as well as to participants’ homes in order to conduct interviews. A
minimum of 10 hours per week is requested.
